00 . this is an independent roleplay blog for Dinah Laurel Lance, the Black Canary from DC Comics, established in August 2021. I am in no way affiliated with Yvonne Strahovski, DC, or any other face claims/source material that might be featured here. Crossover, OC, and duplicate friendly. Personals don’t interact.01 . my portrayal of Dinah is based on various comics but mainly focused on personal headcanons. Sometimes I might ignore canon entirely, and if that's a problem for you, you shouldn't follow me. Constructive criticism is always welcome, especially since English isn't my first language.02 . this blog is selective, private, and mutuals only. Meaning I interact with blogs I follow and that follow me back. If we become mutuals, it's unlikely I'll unfollow you but, a lot of untagged vague posting will probably get you a soft block. Racism, xenophobia, transphobia, and other intolerances are hard block.03 . plotting relations, romantic or otherwise, is one of my favorite things to do! So if you have anything in mind or just felt a little chemistry between our characters, don't be afraid to come talk to me.
I won't write anything romantic with any character unless it's explicitly approved by their mun, even if the relationship it's canon in the source material.
I don't write smut, fade-to-black is fine.04 . when it comes to formatting I use static icons, sometimes medium gifs, and small text, but you don't have to do the same. All I ask is for my partners to cut their posts (or at least tag them if they're long) and to make a new post if they want to continue an interaction from an ask. I use the beta editor.05 . Dinah possesses an incredible degree of control over her vocal cords. This enables her to mimic sounds and generate any sound she desires, even developing several abilities. The Canary Cry has been able to reach 300 decibels, which is enough to make a person's ears start bleeding even if they're not the attack target. See various examples of the Canary Cry here.SOUND IMMUNITY: Black Canary's eardrums have a thick membrane which makes her immune to the effects of her own powers as well as other loud noises.MARTIAL ARTS: she is one of the most skilled martial artists on the planet. Dinah has been trained by Wildcat, who is formerly the Heavyweight Champion of the World, in the art of boxing, Muay Thai, capoeira, krav maga, and hapkido. She has also been trained in Dragon Style Kung Fu and pressure point fighting by Richard Dragon. And thanks to Wonder Woman, Dinah has been trained in Amazon martial arts but is strictly a novice in that kind of fighting style. Due to her sparring with Wonder Woman, Dinah can perceive nanosecond reaction time when fighting. Other styles she's shown skill in include savate, judo, aikido, jujitsu, wing chun, and tae kwon do.PEAK HUMAN CONDITION: the ability for some characters to have trained their bodily functions to the maximum limit of the human condition. Daughter of Lawrence "Larry" Lance, a private detective, and Dinah Drake Lance, a super-hero known as the Black Canary, Dinah Laurel Lance wasn't eager to follow in her parent's footsteps. Growing up, she saw them pass by each other like ships in the night and how much saving the world occupied her mother, leaving no time for anything else - including her daughter - and frankly, she hated it.However, that didn't mean she didn't admire them, her parents and uncles of the Justice Society hung the stars and the moon in her eyes. Or that she didn't stand up for justice, Dinah was a regular visitor to the principal's office, getting into fights to protect kids who couldn't defend themselves. She was born into the super-hero game, and it called to her.At sixteen, after her father died and her mother retired, Dinah found out she had the metahuman gene. On what would seem an ordinary day, she screamed so loud she accidentally blew out the eardrums of her childhood friend.Presented with the choice of getting rid of her power or honing it, Dinah decided to start training with her uncle Ted Grant, the Wildcat. It was then she finally understood her parents.Dinah liked helping people and wanted to do it for the rest of her life.A Brilliant fighter, skilled in various martial arts and equipped with a sonic scream that can shatter steel, Dinah finally donned the fishnets at nineteen years old, making a name for herself as the second Black Canary.

LET THEM HEAR THE BLACK DAMN CANARY . Dinah Laurel Lance is a florist by day and the super-hero Black Canary by night, a title she got from her mother, Dinah Drake Lance, the first Black Canary. She is one of the most skilled martial fighters on the planet and possesses a super-power known as the Canary Cry, a sonic scream that can shatter steel. Member and former chairwoman of the Justice League, Dinah has been a part of various super-hero teams in her career, such as the Justice Society of America, Justice League International, Team Arrow, and the Birds of Prey.

Not only with their amazing songs but with their violence-filled shows. All of which have reportedly ended with the band assisting in putting criminals behind bars.
They have been luring fans and enemies to their sold-out venues, which begs the question, is the Gotham-based four-piece band somehow associated with the retired super-hero Black Canary? The villains sure seem to think so!
Shrouded in mystery, not much is known about the Black Canary, besides the fact that they've known each other since Junior High, which is also when the band started, and that their concerts are a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

INSTEAD OF BEING A FLORIST, DINAH IS THE VOCALIST OF A FAMOUS ROCK BAND CALLED BLACK CANARY, AFTER HER MOTHER, AND HAS NO SECRET IDENTITY.ALWAYS TRYING TO SAVE THE WORLD . Daughter of Quentin Lance, a detective, and Dinah Drake Lance, a florist, Dinah Laurel Lance grew up with a very hard-line view of right and wrong. As her father always said, "You don't need to go outside of the law to find justice." That's why Laurel was so fascinated when she accidentally stumbled upon her mother's secret past: she was a former vigilante called the Black Canary, part of a group called the Justice Society of America.
Sworn to secrecy, Laurel covertly continued to obsess about what she had discovered. Later finding out her uncle Ted was also a former vigilante, the Wildcat, and asked him to train her.
Years later, her sister, Sara, and her childhood friend, Oliver Queen, died in a boat accident, and Laurel's life turned upside down. Her parents divorced, her mother moved to Central City, and her father started spending most of his time in bars. Laurel dropped out of law school, and when she wasn't in her mother's old flower shop, she was in Ted's gym, taking out her frustrations and grief on a punching bag.
One late night, she saw a woman getting robbed and impulsively went to help. After the criminal was down and the woman eagerly thanked her, Laurel realized she'd never felt more alive.
Dressed in leather, a blonde wig, a mask, and her mother's old alias, the Black Canary was guarding the streets of Starling City once again.
(Then Oliver wasn't dead, and a hooded vigilante showed up in town. Then another blonde vigilante showed up in town, and Sara wasn't dead. Then a visit to her mother in Central City ended with Laurel gaining superpowers.
It's been a weird couple of years.)
